Hi raedov,

It appears that you have upgraded the motherboard and processor (Socket type LGA1155). As you are already using a 2nd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-2100 CPU @ 3.10GHz, that supports socket LGA1155, you may upgrade to any of the 2nd generation Intel core i5 processor of same socket type. However, you might need to consider other factors like processor wattage, voltage etc.

You may refer to 2nd generation core i5 processor specifications : http://intel.ly/10tzlvc

You may compare the 2nd generation core i3-2100 and core i5-2400 processor specifications : http://intel.ly/XQvpWH

Hope this helps. Do reply if you have any further questions.

"you might need to consider other factors like processor wattage, voltage etc"

do you mean to change the power supply to 500 watt for example ?

thank you

Hi raedov,

Before you upgrade the processor, please ensure to check the system requirements for same. Core i3-2100 has a TDP of 65W whereas the core i5 processors may have a Max TDP of 95W.

For more clarification on these terms, you may also refer to the thread : http://dell.to/YUIUDG

Hope this helps.

Hello I saw your post about you wanting to upgrade from an i3 to an i5 I wanted to know what motherboard and bios is in your system. I have a dell optiplex 780 and it has a 755 socket. I want to upgrade to at least an i3 but I'm not sure what motherboard to get and the bios if you could tell me what motherboard and bios you have I am sure they would work with my system I would appreciate it if you could tell me this.

Thanks! Charles
