disable Integrated NIC

I have a Dimension 350 with Bios ver. A01.  The integrated NIC has been dead for a few years now and I have been using a PCI NIC since.  Just now the on board battery died and in the process reset the BIOS.  Now at boot up I get a NIC Failure notice and the system just hangs.  There is no place in the BIOS to disable the integrated NIC that I can see.  I checked under integrated devices - nothing.  The system can't get past recognizing the dead integrated nic to see that it has a good one elsewhere.  I did check and swapped out the pci nic for another just to make sure it too wasn't dead.  The same results occurred with the substitute nic.  What am I missing?  how to I get around this?

I always hesitate to give advice based on Dell documentation as I've found numerous mistakes.  According to the on-line user's guide, however, you should have an option to disable the onboard NIC under the heading of "Integrated Devices".

It actually is a Precision 350.  I don't follow where the "advanced screen peripheral settings option" is.  I don't see it in the Bios screen.

Ah totally different system

but according to the info listed HERE under the system setup options  there should be an option in the bios to enable/disable the NIC

Yup, that's what I found too, but my bios doesn't have a NIC Devise in the line of items.  The only NIC information that I can find in my BIOS is in the PCI IRQ  Assignments.  It lists my good NIC card there.   I'm half tempted to update the bios.  I hate doing it but I might not have any other option.
