You can associate that file type with a different program:

1)Double-click on My Computer;
2)Click on the View menu and go to Folder Options;
3)Go to the File Types tab;
4)Scroll down the list until you locate the file type you would like to change (usually JPG, GIF and BMP for pictures), highlight it and click Edit;
5)Highlight Open, click Edit again, and click Browse;
6)Make your way to the location of the .EXE file of the program you would like to use to open the file and double-click on it;
7)OK everything and reboot.

Try this:
  • Left-click once on one of the files of the type you are trying to reassociate; it should not be selected
  • Hold down the SHIFT key, and right-click on the file
  • Choose the option on the context menu that appears for "Open with..."
  • In the "Open with..." window, choose the application that you want to reassociate the file type to
  • Make sure the box for "Always use..." is checked
  • Hit OK
  • If you get a warning about reassociating the file, agree to continue.

This should reassociate the file. If it doesn't correct the problem, you may need to uninstall QuickTime from the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel and then associate the file.
