Im not aware of 3 disks or more. Even new systems with XP Service pack2 only come with 1 CD and 1 resource cd. The OS install cd is not the same as the resource cd.
well thay gave me a little pack of disks it white and folds open it says dell custom factory integration cd restore ..... this disk is to be used to restore this systems hard drive to its oringinal state.......
i ve used them before to reformat the hd dont think thay have sp 1 or 2 well i know it dont have sp2
but it loads everything about the puter and windows xp i know when i do reformat with the disks it has systmatic gost that runs to reformat and put xp on if that helps you anyway
I dont have custom factory configs so I have no idea what you are referring. If you are the true customer and have active Non expired support you should be able to get a new set of CD's from Dell.
If you let your service EXPIRE it can NEVER be renewed.
Dell Recovery CD
•What is it?
•It is the backup media for the operating system.
•Where do we find it?
•It is also shipped with the system and is not to be confused with the Resource CD. It cannot restore drivers or other installed software, it only restores Operating system.
• It is colour coded according to the type of Operating system.
•Dell Blue – Windows 2000 Pro /Dell Green Windows 2000 pro SP2
•Dark Grey – Windows NT 4.0
•Purple -Windows 98 SE
•Green –Windows 95
Darker Blue --Windows ME
Why do we need it?
• It is the backup media for the operating system and can restore it.
You need the CD and to use the Product Key listed on the COA Sticker on your system to install.
