usb ports not working GX270

The usb mouse cable was pinched (cat bite) and left on overnight. In the morning none of the usb ports do anything . Everything else is working. I put a ps2 mouse on and it is fine. Can this be repaired? I think there was a short circuit. I had shut down the computer after the incident and walked out of the room but when I looked at it in the morning the computer had been frozen all night. I had to hold in power button and restarted it.
