How 3 nodes are selected?

Hello,

How will 3 nodes be selected when data is stored in ECS? What is the design of ECS?

I just found the followings.

"ECS ensures durability, reliability, and availability of objects by creating and distributing

three copies of objects and their metadata across the set of nodes in the local site."

on page 24 of "EMC Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) 2.0 ECS Documentation"

"Cold storage contains infrequently accessed data. The ECS data protection scheme for cold

storage is optimized to increase storage efficiency."

on page 38 of "Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS) 2.2.1 Administrator's Guide"
