Dell Command | Update 4.8 for Win32 is Available Now!

Back by popular demand, the Dell Command team has reintroduced the Win32 version of Dell Command | Update 4.8 (DCU Classic).   By listening to our customers in their Update Management journey, we continuously heard loud and clear that they require a Win32 version of Dell Command | Update, for ease of deployment and manageability via Microsoft Intune, System Center Configuration Manager and Workspace One.    As a result of this we have brought back the Classic Version of Dell Command Update v 4.8.0!    We still continue to have a UWP version of Dell Command | Update (Ver 4.8.0) as well, which can be found HERE   You can download the Classic Version of Dell Command | Update (Ver 4.8.0) HERE   Along with the release of Ver 4.8.0 for Dell Command | Update, we have addressed the following concerns that customers were having with the previously release version.  Expect to find the following fixed in the newly released 4.8.0 version.   Fixes: - Fixed the issue where the BIOS installation shows an error when you update it using the encryptedPasswordFile through the command line interface. - Fixed the issue where the reboot notifications are not displayed when you start the Dell Client Management Service manually. This issue occurs when the system requires a reboot.

There is a problem with this product when using a tool like SCCM Application to install the software, and configure it. The installation is fine, however when using dcu-cli /configure ... (doesn't matter what command) the dcu-cli returns error code 2.

This is due to the fact that SCCM runs these installations using the SYSTEM account in non-interactive mode. Apparently you're new version of dcu-cli doesn't like that and returns error code 2.

If it open a command prompt in the SYSTEM context, and run the same command, it's fine. I know I'm not the only one with this problem because many on other sites report the same.

I highly dislike reddit but this does prove I'm not the only one. Some users are using serviceui.exe to wrap the installation command in it. This, however, would give a pop-up on a user system - even if brief - is unacceptable.

Please look into why the behavior has changed since 4.5 (which works fine).
