Empty error message field in web Administrator

Question

When an error message is given in the Messages field at the bottom of the web admin page it stays there until a new message is shown.

This can be very confusing because there's no way of knowing if the same error has occurred again or if it is still the same error being displayed.
It would be useful to empty the messages field on the next user action or page refresh.

Perhaps rather than clearing the message, the fact that it's not current could be indicated by greying it out or som other distinction
