PS6210 Replaced drive not becoming a spare
I have a PS6210 running firmware 9.0.3 and I am seeing something odd when replacing a failed disk.
Usually when replacing failed the new disk will automatically become a spare.
On my last replacement on this unit the replacement disk shows as online and healthy but is not becoming a spare. In the disks tab of Group Manager, it is gray.
The new drive model and firmware match the old and the other drives in the member.

Hello,
Where did you get this drive? It might be same model/OEM part #, but not a proper EQL drive.
Or it could have a RAID label from another EQL array on it. In the EQL GUI if you go to that member and select the disks. That one may show up as foreign. If so you can clear the old label off the drive. There's a add to array option. Or at the CLI.
Do a show member. Find the member name. e.g. PS6210E
Then do:
select PS6210E show disks

From there you would do: clear-label to remove the RAIDset info from that spare drive.
GrpName(member_PS6210E disk_12)> clear-label
If that works it will become a spare.
Otherwise I would try to get another drive from your vendor.

Current disk status already is offline.
This drive was provided by a third party support vendor (not Dell warranty Support) and previous drives from this vendor have been functional. It does have the same firmware revision A760 as the other drives in this member. Should I be able to run a command to bring this drive online?

Hello,
No, that command will not bring it online. Most likely it is NOT an EQL drive.
The firmware revision doesn't matter. They are made by the vendor specifically for EQL. They likely did not send you a compatible drive.
I would ask them for a new drive.
