VVol best practices

Are there any best practice docs for VVols yet? In another thread, the Donald Wi said to change the NOOP value from 10 to 30. In the 8.0.4 release notes I see it saying to run the following command:

esxcli equallogic param set --name=membersession --value=1

Is there any else that needs to be done?

And once we're on the topic, what exactly is that membersesion command doing? Will changing it cause a problem if running mixed VVols and traditional luns on the same ESXi host? In reading the release notes, I'm not 100% clear on its impact

Thanks

Hello,

Those are the only VVOL specific changes.  All the standard best practices outlined in TR1091 still apply and need to be done.

The esxcli command only sets the default number of member sessions per port if you are using the Multipathing Extension Module (MEM) which enhances the MPIO code from VMware to better work with EQL arrays.

It won't negatively impact your VVOLs or traditional LUNs at all.

Regards,

Don
