MD1120 - future SATA compatability

We are planning to use the Intel SSD X25-E as direct attached storage (DAS). These drives have a SATA interface, but while SATA drives should generally be compatible with a SAS Controllers, the MD1120 spec specifically states, that it does not currently support SATA drives, but will do so in the future.

Has anybody found information regarding the MD1120 and SATA?
