Media Changer is not detected by the Linux server (CentOS7)

Hi,

Currently we have a backup server operating in CentOS 7 which I need to integrate with Dell TL2000 tape library.

Upon connecting the tape library to the backup server through SAS cable, the SAS drive is detected but the medium changer is missing. The output of cat /proc/scsi/scsi is shown below:

[root@bareos ~]# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
Attached devices:
Host: scsi0 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: LSI Model: SAS2X36 Rev: 0e12
Type: Enclosure ANSI SCSI revision: 05
Host: scsi0 Channel: 02 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: SMC Model: SMC2108 Rev: 2.13
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05
Host: scsi0 Channel: 02 Id: 02 Lun: 00
Vendor: SMC Model: SMC2108 Rev: 2.13
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05
Host: scsi5 Channel: 00 Id: 00 Lun: 00
Vendor: ATA Model: SATADOM-MV 3ME Rev: 710
Type: Direct-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 05
Host: scsi1 Channel: 00 Id: 03 Lun: 00
Vendor: IBM Model: ULT3580-HH6 Rev: F9A1
Type: Sequential-Access ANSI SCSI revision: 06

Highlighted is the detected SAS drive of Dell TL2000.

The medium changer is not detected.

The SAS card installed in the Linux server is:

LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS2008

I am thinking that this might be a hardware compatibility issue. But I'm not quite sure.

Hoping for any assistance with regards to this issue. Thank you!

Hello kit44182,

It looks like from the output that you posted it look to be set as sequential mode? If that is the case then you will need to change to random mode and reboot your TL2000 for the changes to take. Also, you will need to make sure that multi lun support is enabled on your HBA’s bios as well.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
