3-Pronged Power Adapter Information

Can anyone in the US confirm that they have received a 3-prong 90W adapter for a 1530?  The reason I ask is that I have recently received another 2-prong adapter after talking to online tech support who promised they were sending a 3-prong adapter.  So either they think people can't tell the difference, or they are being misinformed.

After receiving another 2-prong adapter that has the same problem (tingling hand-rest and occasional shock), I called tech support.  They are now telling me that 3-prong adapters do not exist in the US and they cannot give me any timeframe as to when they will be available.

If anyone from Dell with more knowledge about this (as in how to get a 3-prong adapter in the US) can reply, that would be most useful.  Otherwise I will be sending this laptop back and delaying orders for several more until they can solve this problem.

Ran into the same situation.  Apparently in the US there is no 3-prong part number for this system.  Customer service was looking into the issue for me, but told me to use the system in the meantime.  That said, I've had to remove my wedding band when using the system and even then it's rather irritating.

They are shipping a replacement system in hopes this will resolve the issue (at least to a lesser extent).  We have a second of these notebooks in the house, and this one is by far worse than the other so perhaps some system configurations are more affected by this than others?

But long story short, had 2 x 2-prong AC adapters sent (in both cases, they tried to send 3-prong, but they got changed somehow when shipped).

I did a little searching around and found this: http://www.portablecomponents.com/product_dell-90w-ac-adapter-p26527.html "This is a Brand New DELL Original Product 90-watt AC Adapter for Dell Notebooks with power cord." I emailed them to see if the picture was accurate and it is actually a 3-prong adapter. I'll post again when I hear back. It seems the problem goes back several months, so I am amazed Dell hasn't found a working solution as of yet.

For the time being if you plug something else into the computer, such as a printer or a powered hub or speakers with their own power source it should help minimize the stray voltage.  I am by no means saying this is right or you should have to do this but it should help provide a better ground til you have your problem fixed by Dell.

As for the power cord in the link I am not sure that it will fit you model number.  On my old 520 I did not have a Dell cord so I bought a universal that matched all of the specs but when I plugged it in it would not charge the batteries.  Computer ran just find on plug just would not charge.  So becareful because it is not the first time I heard such things.

Dell states that the tingling sensation does no harm but I wonder if people with pacemakers could be detrimental.  This might sound strange but I like that tingling sensation!

PROBLEM SOLVED for the XPS M1530!

No more electical current going through the keyboard area.

SOLUTION - 3 Prong 90 Watt AC Adapter.

Dell sent me mine on Thursday night at 8PM and it showed up Friday afternoon.

Cudos to the Dell Support person in Oklahoma who took the time to research the right adapter.

You will have to send back the 2 prong adapter to Dell after you receive the 3 prong.

Here are the Dell part numbers from the Dell Label on the adapter just below the Dell Logo:

And then the number below the bar code
