AMD Dual Graphics Problem ( Inspiron M5110 )

I am having problems with my dual graphics setup on my laptop. My laptop is the Dell Insprion M5110. The specs are : AMD A8-3520m Processor, 6GB of DDR3-1333 RAM, a discrete AMD graphics card (7450m OR 6470m?), running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and no modifications has been done to it ( Software or Hardware ). When I recieved this laptop, the drivers dell has put in named the Graphics Card as the AMD Radeon HD 7450m and when I ran games such as Test Drive Unlimited 2, Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2011 and Need for Speed Shift 2 Unleashed, ONLY the integrated Amd Radeon HD 6620G was being used(Note: All games ran in full screen)I have turned on Dual Graphics and set each game to High Performance. I have now updated the driver to 12.8 directly from AMD's (amddriverdownloader) program and installed it just fine aswell as downloading the 12.8CAP2 from the AMD Game Forums download section. PS: When using AMD'S REFERENCE DRIVER, the discrete graphics card would be renamed back to AMD Radeon HD 6470m and also, AMD's system monitor detects both of the GPU's seperately and not into a 6640G2 as AMD Stated it would with this configuration. Still no luck. Any help would be appreciated, thanks! :)

Hi Exempt,

To enhance the performance of the graphics chipset, AMD has released a new version of driver for AMD Radeon™ HD 6470.. As a part of the update, the chipset has been rebranded as AMD Radeon HD 7450M. This does not indicate any hardware/technology change but a simple driver update and rebranding.  Please update the Driver to version 8.881 or higher, for the change to take effect.

Here is the link to download the latest version 8.901.3 ATI Mobility Radeon HD Driver :

Link : http://tinyurl.com/8kvac7y

Follow the steps to download the drivers:

  1. Click “Get driver”.
  2. Click “Continue”.
  3. Follow the on screen instructions to download the drivers and install it in the computer.
  4. Restart the computer to save change.

Please try this and reply with results.

I have already attempted to use that same driver from Dell. The same results besides the name change ( Doesnt matter to me ). I've set the Dell driver to use Crossfire, and I've set the games that are DirectX10/11 to run in High Performance and played each game in Full Screen and used AMD System Monitor to report the hardware utilization. Still, the discrete graphics card was being ignored. The only time when dual graphics should work as it should would be in .benchmarks such as 3DMark11 and Unigine Heaven 3.0 ( All fullscreen ). Also, AMD's driver is currently the latest one (  8.982.0.0 ). Any more help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hi. I am having Inspiron 14R N4110 Laptop model and there's 2 graphic cards.

1. AMD Radeon HD 6630M

2. Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics

I wanted to run Magicka and I realised that my computer is not detecting my AMD Radeon HD 6630M. It keep on detecting my Mobile Intel(R) HD Graphics. Can I know the solution to make my computer to auto detect my AMD Radeon when the Intel(R) cannot support the graphic? Kindly provide the solution for me. Thank you.

The AMD drivers require the dot.net framework before they'll load.

To change the video chip in this model, a replacement mainboard is required.

Hello, I come from Vietnam. And I have one problem solved like this:
I myself reinstalling WIN and drivers laptops (Dell Inspiron N5110). We can say everything is complete. However, AMD Radeon HD 6470M card can not receive, although I have downloaded a lot of software to run but has not been. It always has a yellow exclamation mark. Even though I've used: AMD ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6470M, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6620, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6520, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 6480, v.8.836.1.2000, A02

I took a picture but can not enclose it seem worse than 64kb

Now I want it to run, or I want to change it, use Nvidia?
Thank you very much.

I’ve got DELL inspiron M5510

it’s because not all games a capable of using both graphics cars it has to do with that the game need to use DirectX 11 and some other things don`t know exactly.

I had also a bug that dual graphics/crossfire worked but I was getting <ADMIN NOTE: Substitute character removed as per TOU> up graphics with walls disappeared and rainbow colors everywhere.

There is no were on the internet a solution for this.  Drivers doesn`t matter. eventually fixed it.

Okay first the GPU in you APU is better than the gpu onboard. that`s why it won`t never switch to the onboard GPU. just because it`s slower. However those 2 GPU can crossfire. if you get it work properly you get something like 20/30% more performance.

I’ve solved my problem by updating my drivers to BETA 14.2

than i did this

https://forums.digitalpoint.com/threads/notebook-guide-for-overclocking-gpu-vga-notebook-a43ta-%E2%80%93-a6-3400m-llano.2630487/

downloaden MSI afterburner and clocked it over to

GPU speed from 750MHz to 900MHZ

Memory speed from 900MHz to 1100MHz

But remember I’ve modified my laptop with 8GB of ram a SSD and removed the fan control so it stays much cooler. I’ve also build a custom cooler for under my laptop. and overclocked by CPU to 2.3 GHz (this isn`t needed to solve the problem and I wouldn’t recommend it because if you`re didn’t modified your laptop it`s is properly going to burn out.

Don`t know if it will work by you because my laptop is modified
