Adding SSD to Inspiron 15z
Hi,
How can I add SSD to my 15z 5523?
I currently have a hybrid hard disk with 32GB,
but it works pretty slow after 2 yrs.
Is there option only to replace hard disk with SSD or I can still Add SSD?
Anyway, what kind of SSD does it support: size like 2280? interface - SATA3?
Please advise.
TIA,
Oleg.

The 5523 uses the older mSATA drive type -- NOT the new M.2 (NGFF). You can replace either the SSD with a larger mSATA drive OR replace the 2.5" drive with a 2.5" SATA SSD. Given that mSATA is a dying standard, if you want to be able to move the new drive to a newer system once your current one is replaced, replace the hard drive -- not the mSATA drive.
By the time you replace the system, mSATA will be completely obsolete.

The interface for the 2.5" SATA drive is 6G on this system.
Most mSATA drives -- yours included -- are 3G.
You can replace either drive but you can't add a drive to the two you already have.

OK, so I can NOT add, but only replace?
So I can not replace with SATA3, but only with slower SATA 2.5"?
