Ambient Light Sensor
I've got a Latitude D630
My Ambient Light Sensor has not worked since I got my laptop late last year. I know it is disabled by default, but I can't enable it.
I've tried via the BIOS, and it's enabled there, but not in the operating system.
I've tried via the Shortcuts Fn Left Arrow, but it does not enable it.
I've tried via QuickSet, and it gives you 3 options. I can click on the top 2 radio buttons, but it never activates them. The bottom radio button for "Disable Ambient Light Sensor" is always enabled.
Any other tips?
Update the Driver?
Any help would be great. Thanks.

Using the Ambient Light Sensor
The ambient light sensor is located on the bottom of the computer display panel. The ambient light sensor detects available environmental light and automatically increases or decreases the display backlighting to compensate for low-light and high-light environments.
You can enable or disable the ambient light sensor by pressing the and left-arrow key combination.

ambient light sensor
The ambient light sensor is disabled when your computer is shipped to you. If you enable the ambient light sensor and then use any of the display brightness key combinations, the ambient light sensor is disabled and the display brightness is increased or decreased accordingly.
Dell™ QuickSet allows you to enable or disable the ambient light sensor. You can also adjust maximum and minimum brightness settings that are activated when you enable the ambient light sensor feature. For more information about QuickSet, right-click the
icon in the taskbar, and click Help.
