Another Precision M6400 memory upgrade problem
I have a Precision M6400 - I cannot upgrade the amount of RAM no matter how I position the new chips. After I try to install the new chips, the light will just blink an error.
Windows 7 Ultimate x64 - Motherboard functions 100%, original RAM functions 100% (I know this for a fact because I use it every day) (computer originally came with Windows Vista Business)
ORIGINAL RAM 4gig is Samsung M471B5673EH1-CF8 (2x 2gig 2Rx8 PC3-8500S-07-10-F2)
Upgraded BIOS to A13 - I need to upgrade the RAM to continue using Maya, and 3DS Max
Using the DELL online system configuration tools and recommendations based on my service tag information, I purchased:
KomputerBay 2x 4gig PC3-10600 1333MHz 4096 NonECC 9-9-9-24 DDR3
I have searched these forums and have *already* followed several posts as suggestions.

and this post-http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19493813.aspx
Nothing seems to work.
I also tried purchasing additional Samsung ram 2x 4gig PC3-8500 DDR3 1066MHz to see if that would work, and no go.
Is there possibly something that may have gotten overwritten when I installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64?

On the M6400 you have slots A, B, C, and D. This may have already been answered for you since it's several months later.
You MUST have the exact same RAM in the A & D slots and the B & C slots otherwise, for some reason, it will not work.
I've got Samsung in 3 of the 4 slots on mine. Bought 1 extra RAM for the 4th slot but they sent 2 RAM by mistake.
Unbeknownst to me I'd end up needing those 2 RAM cards.
The Samsung I placed in A & D slots. The "new" RAM cards I placed in the B & C slots.
It took a bit longer to boot as the system immediately recognized the new RAM.
