Audio driver for Windows XP?

I just got my inspiron 3700 back from a friend.  The computer is like 6 years old...got a new hard drive, more memory, windows xp, etc.  a good old upgrade.  problem is, there is no sound.  nothing at all.  no startup sound, no wav file sound, nada.
So, i went to download an audio driver from Dell.  Put in computer type, operating system...it says there are no such downloads available for that specific configuration (Inspiron 3700, Windows XP).  Help?
 Thanks

You can try using the Windows 2000 driver for your sound card though I cannot guarantee that it will work.

The ESS Maestro 2E
Should be "seen" by XP without needing drivers.
I have this on my inspiron 7500 with xp and have no issues.

Ess also makes Generic Drivers.
The Maestro 2E is a PCI sound card.

I have an Inspiron 8000 with Windows XP.  The computer originally came with drivers for ME.  The Dell website doesn't have an audio driver for me.  What should I do?
Confused

Whenever you cannot find drivers for XP then use the Windows 2000 versions of the drivers.
