Backlit Keyboard Help Studio 1555

I recently purchased a backlit keyboard to upgrade my existing non lit keyboard, I have a Dell Studio 1555 running windows 7 home premium 64 bit.

I installed Dell Quickset but backlit.exe is not finding the keyboard.

Cable is inserted correctly and keyboard lights up fully when I boot up, but switches of the second windows starts.

Please Help . Searched everywhere but cant find an answer .

Hi Blitzendave,

Try pressing Fn + F6 key to toggle between these lighting states:

1. Full keyboard/touch pad brightness
2. No lighting
3. Half keyboard/touch pad brightness

If keyboard does not light up, try steps mentioned below:

1. Press and hold the key
2. Press the key with the symbol noted with the blue dot. (keyboard light toggle)

Thanks & Regards

On at least some systems you can control the backlight by a BIOS setting -- be sure the backlight is enabled there if there's a setting for it.  F2 at powerup.

Anyone out there have any more ideas. Would really like to get the backlight working. Lights up perfectly on start up but switches off when windows starts.

Please Help.

Hi Blitzendave,

I‘d suggest you to flash the BIOS, reinstall the Dell System Software and Dell Quickset drivers on the system for issue resolution. Install it in sequence.

Dell Studio 1555 BIOS                                  : http://dell.to/109Jkaz

Dell Studio 1555 System Software             : http://dell.to/13tF3w3

Dell Studio 1555 Quickset driver                 : http://dell.to/107Kn7q

Please let me know if this helps.

Thanks a bunch, really I am serious. I did a reinstall Windows 7 home premium 64 after Windows 10 kept locking up my computer and many features that came with my Dell Studio 1555 would not work. I have my touchpad working and all the features on my keyboard back to normal today :)

Thanks again,  Binny
