Hi Hilda,

Apart from the battery, it could be the adapter or the system board which could be the possible point of failure. Lets try few steps to isolate the issue.

1. Check if the light on the adapter brick turns On when connected only to a wall socket.

2. Start the system and press the F2 key on the Dell logo screen to enter the BIOS set up.

3. In the BIOS set up, scroll down to 'Device Info' and check if the AC Adapter type shows as 90w or 65w

4. If the Adapter type is listed as "Unknown", the system board needs to be replaced.

It's good to know that Amazon is offering a refund but if you need to buy a new battery, contact Dell Spares and Parts or purchase from Dell website to avoid any compatibility issues.

Good Morning

Thank you for contacting the community.

Unfortunately, we cannot comment on situations where batteries have been purchased outwith Dell, and batteries that may not be Dell branded.

What you can do to test the battery, is go into the bios (Tap F2 on start up) > Go to battery heath > and check to see if the battery is charging or even recognised.

Also, if you know anyone else with a like for like machine, you can test their battery in your system, and vice versa, from there you will know if thers actually a problem with the battery or the motherboard.

Regards

Kevin
