If the USB port or ports you have tried work with other USB devices I would suspect the hub is defective.  I bought a Belkin hub (that was designed for laptops) and it wouldn't work (defective).  I've had several problems with Belkin devices (Belkin cables are OK) and do not recommend them to my clients.

Another thought with USB "hubs".  You should use a "powered" USB hub (one that has it's own power supply).  That assures you have enough "power" to run whatever devices you want on the hub.  A "non powered" hub that gets it's power from the PC's USB port is limited power and some devices connected to the non powered hub may not work.

There are no drivers, USB hubs are "plug and play" with Windows.

Howdy,

I have the same problem too.  This problem persists regardless of whether external power is supplied to it.  Specifically, when plugged Windows 7 says it can not recognize a device and thus has no driver(s) for it.

It would appear there are quite a few folks with this problem.

Neither Belkin or Dell appear to have acknowledged this or thus provided solutions.

On a side note, my service tag is not recognized as being valid (i.e. not in db) so I can't let the scanner help.
