Cannot Uninstall ProSet Wireless

Okay so I am fairly computer literate but I am completely stuck. I have an Inspiron 700m and have never had any real issues with it connecting to my network. I used a Clear 4G WiMax card for about a week for work. Then I came home and all of a sudden could not connect to my wireless network. I kept getting an error when I clicked on my network in the ProSet utility that my profile was invalid or something like that. I went on forums and looked around and read that I should go to the add/remove program utility and try to "repair" the proset wireless. So I did that and it never got past 25% no matter how long I let it run during the repair process.

I have since tried to uninstall and reinstall it multiple times and nothing is working. I am now at the point that every time I go to uninstall - it just freezes and I have to click the close window button and it shows it as not responding. I also downloaded the most up to date drivers and now it just gets stuck ever time I try to install the file. It now does not show up when I go to the add/remove programs, but if I got to the device manager it is still listed there. And when I try to right click on it in my device manager and uninstall it just freezes. Not the entire program but the operation of uninstalling it.

I am fresh out of ideas. It is like it was never completely uninstalled so i can't re-install it without problems. BUT I cannot go in and completely uninstall it. Any help would be EXTREMELY appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Casey

Try uninstalling/removing it again after booting into Safe Mode Casey?

If you still can't get rid of it, try using Revo Uninstaller (which is FREEware).

I know you're trying to uninstall/remove hardware - specifically, but there may still be some installation files/drivers in use, which are preventing it being uninstalled completely, and Revo Uninstaller might find them?

Gotta be worth a shot at least, if you're not successful in removing it in safe mode?

I can't believe I never tried to remove it while in safe mode - worked like a charm. Thank you very much.

Once more question, what is the purpose of the Intel ProSet Wireless Connection Utility? Does it have some advantage of just using the wireless utility that XP has built in?

Thanks again.
