Check Disk Utility
Last night an update was installed, and now I have a corrupt file (Windows NT/TableTextService). I'm supposed to run the Check Disk Utility, but when I go to do it, i get a message that says it can't run while i'm logged on or something. When I select schedule a check, nothing happens. When I set up the task scheduler, it doesnt work. When I try to do a system restore, it tells me to run the chkdsk. When I try to delete the folder, it doesnt let me either. HELP!!!!! This is beyond frustrating!

Windows cannot run the disk-scan for the hard drive/partition in which it was installed, so it asks you to schedule a scan for the next time you reboot the computer. Then, the screen will ask whether you agree with this scheduled maintenance before Windows starts.
If nothing happens after scheduling the disk-scan, then you might better think about reinstalling the OS.

Before you do a clean install, try booting from the Vista disc that came with your laptop. Then select the Repair option -> Command Prompt and run chkdsk from there.
It appears that chkdsk itself may be corrupted which is why it's not running when you try to restart your laptop.
