This is more of a statement about how unhappy I am with my Experience with Dell. I have emailed them at CA_onlinesales@dell.com yesterday. No reply. Not even a 'we have received your email' message. It's the only email I could find since their website isn't really easy to get the kind of answers I need and the contact info page makes you run around in circles. Basically, I'd like to know why I have to pay for a restocking fee and shipping when I'm not to blame for the problems I'm having.
I recently purchased a laptop from Dell. I was really happy with it. The setup went great and I was really happy to start using my new laptop. Then I started trying to adjust my screen colors and I wasn't so happy. Both the Windows 7 color calibration and the Intel graphics color calibration revert back to default everytime the computer is shut down or goes into sleep mode. After doing some quick online research I learned that both of these problems are known issues to Dell, Microsoft, and Intel. Neither Dell, nor Microsoft, nor Intel is willing to accept responsibility for these known issues. I find it unacceptable to have to recalibrate my screen colors each time I need to use my computer. I have spent days online trying all the different fixes that are proposed on various websites, but as with many other users nothing fixes the issue.
This laptop was to be my main computer where I was going to be doing lots of photo editing. That is now impossible due to the reasons mentioned above. So now I have a $549(excluding tax) paper weight. Based on the Total Satisfaction guarantee I have to pay for return shipping, insurance, and a restocking fee if I want to return the laptop. I really don't see why I have to pay for all of that when DELL is willfully selling laptops with software and graphics chips that are defective. There is no disclosure on the Dell site about these known issues. Anyone who is like me and needs to use these laptops for photo editing of any kind will also be left with a useless and expensive laptop that they'll have to pay to return. I want to return this laptop for a full refund and I do not want to have to pay for shipping, insurance, or a restocking fee. It is not as though I just changed my mind. I like the laptop. I want to keep it. That's why I purchased it. I just can't USE IT because the software doesn't work and there is no way to fix the problem. I do realize that according to Microsoft the color calibration issues with Windows 7 have been resolved, but clearly that is false information or a complete lie since I am having these issues currently and I'm not the only one.
I understand that these issues are not hardware issues and are therefore not Dell's concerns. They should be their concerns because they are aware of these problems and are choosing to not inform customers about them. When I buy something from a company I'd like to be able to believe that the product will be new and in working order. If Dell chooses to do business with companies who create software and products that are defective and Dell and such companies are aware of the defective products and software, then Dell is responsible for informing the consumer of such defects. Dell knows these issues are present and refuses to disclose them. If I had known that I could not use this laptop at all I would not have wasted over $600 on it.
So what are my chances of getting a full refund including shipping and not having to pay a restocking fee. Also, before you suggest I can use a third party software to adjust my colors, I really shouldn't have to and I have no intention of doing so.

It won't reset if you adjust all the colors together rather than just one color. Also a way around this is to use the Wizard which fixes the problem and gives the correct color without resetting to default.
