Then i uninstalled my nvidia graphic card and tried to run the game again it wroked just fine but as soon as i installed my nvidia card and triend running it on it the laptop again got shutdown. i searched the internet and found its wither my Power unit or my graphic card has become faulty. Please help me out of this situation. Thank you.

Thank you for replying.

I did the test . No Errors even with the Extended memory test. All Tests Passed.

I also ran the MY DELL pc check up to test all components but report came out ALL PASSED.

I downloaded a GPU temperature software named GPU-Z and tried to monitor the temperature in case the laptop shuts down due to overheating. The results were very weird under a very small load the temperatures rose to a staggering 100c. and the pc got shutdown like it was doing before the exact same way. The GPU ideal temperature was around 58c.

Again i searched the internet and everywhere i found out was change the THERMAL PASTE as my laptop is two years old now and i do a lot of gaming. Please guide me. I really need some help . Thank you.

Hi Vanjul,

Please perform hardware diagnostics.

Restart system > press F12 on Dell logo > Select diagnostics.

If diagnostics pass with no error code, update BIOS using the link below:

http://dell.to/1lSlE5C

Also, ensure that you have installed latest Video Drive for the graphics card.

Please let us know if the system restarts while executing a specific game(application).

Thanks & Regards

Hi Vanjul,

Thank you for the reply.

Please let me know if system BIOS is up to date.

Try the link in my previous reply to update BIOS.

If BIOS is up to date, please provide a screenshot of the GPU-Z reflecting the temperature.

Thanks & Regards

Thanks for some insight sir.

Yes i have a N5110 and i checked the dell website and found out i have the latest version A11 BIOS .

I have included two screen shots one under IDLE condition and the other under VERY LIGHT LOAD(Running Google Chrome using GPU). The temperatures rose to 99~100c in just 2 3 seconds and the laptop got shut down.

This is the idle state screenshot.

This is under LOAD as described above.

Sir as you can see the GPU Temperature is way beyond the NORMAL UNDER LOAD the computer gets shut down.

I dont know if its a HEAT SINK problem or dust collection or THERMAL PASTE problem.

Also sir it would be much better if i can contact you personally via Email to help solve the problem.

Please help me out  here sir. I am really confused. Thank you.

I had a similar issue with this type of graphics card. From my research it is an overheating issue, where the graphics card is not cooling properly under intense gaming. To solve the issue, first upgrade to the latest graphics card drivers, then according how technical how competent you are, you will need to apply thermal paste and clean the CPU fan, then look for a NVidia's tool online to control the speed of the GPU runs at. Your aim is to lower the speed of the GPU, to prevent it from reaching its maximum temperature. Note that lowering the speed of the GPU would show little difference in the FPS of most games, so don't worry about performance difference.
