D600 - SmartCard Reader
Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but was curious what the purpose of the SmartCard Reader is on the Latitude D600? Did a tiny bit of research, and see references to being used for "security" (ID tool I presume) and such.
Is the SmartCard Reader the same as a PCMCIA slot? Can I put PCMCIA cards in this slot? Also, am I able to somehow use this to read the CompactFlash memory card I have for my digital camera?
Thanks in advance for any good links that explain the different ways I can use this device.
Regards,
mark

Hi,
The smart card is under the PCMCIA slot, and can be used instead of a log-on ID. You can buy a PCMCIA adapter to install a flash card. The computer will see it as a removable disk.
