D830 graphics card

Hi

I can see that my Dell D830 was available with a choice of these 3 cards:-

NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 140M Graphics
NVIDIA® Quadro NVS 135M Graphics
Integrated Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X31003

Mine came with the basic card (third one) so is there anyway I can get the NVIDIA card for my laptop?

Thanks

Are the Nvidia cards built into the motherboard?

No. They're proprietary PCI express cards. The systems shipping with them have the required sockets that the models shipped with integrated video, do not.

No. The models that come with integrated video have no video card sockets, and can't be upgraded.

I am VERY interested in upgrading my laptops video from the Intel to a dedicated NVidia solution, I should have been more patient and waited for the NVidia to become available instead of ordering as soon as the D830 was released. Would it be possible for me to buy a naked system board for the D830 intended for the dedicated graphics? I could just move all the components over and then add the video card.

you can buy a D830 mobo with the vidia 140m video card in there, but dell won't fix the new mobo if problems occur.

It was said earlier that the mainboards with nvidia graphics have a socket, this is untrue. The nvidia graphics cards for the D series latitudes are built onto the motherboard. There is no way to upgrade from integrated intel graphics to an nvidia, or to upgrade the nvidia graphics cards on the D series. If you want to see what it looks like, remove your keyboard and you will see there is no way to upgrade the graphics chip. Both the GPU and GPU memory are on the mainboard.
