Hi Mahmud,

Battery life of a laptop totally depends on the usage and the applications installed on your computer. However another reason for this issue could be the graphics settings on your system. Your computer contains two Graphic Processors. One is used for high –performance graphics whereas the other consumes less power and is used for general tasks. When no applications require the high-performance Graphics Processor (GPU), the GPU is temporarily turned off until it is needed again. Applications that do not require 3D graphics or video, such as simple text editors, are configured to always run on the power-saving GPU and cannot be assigned a GPU.

I would suggest you to please check these settings on your system and delegate all graphics processing tasks to a specific GPU. Use the Switchable Graphics page to change the current GPU selection to maximize system performance or power savings. You can select the preferred graphic processor according to your needs. To do that follow the below mentioned steps:

1. Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.

2. Select Manage 3D Settings.

3. Under Global Settings tab, users can select the preferred graphic processor

When the Preferred Graphics Processor is set to Auto-select, it allows the driver to pick the most compatible graphics processor.

Is issue still persists, I can help you better if you can provide me some details like Service Tag (7 digit alphanumeric code ending with number 1) which you would find at the bottom of the laptop, your Contact Number, Best Time to Reach and Alternate Phone Number. You can add me as your friend, and send me the above required details through private messaging only but not on Open Forum.

Please feel free to contact for further clarifications.

Thanks & Regards

Debbie B

Dear Debbie B.

I really super appreciate you help. One more thing though, my battery is giving that same 1:30 hour backup but the worst part is with wear level. Its decreasing day by day.. today its around 27% !!! I don't know, is that a bug with windows 8 or something with dell driver i don't know... :'(

Anyway, My DELL Service Tag is: <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>

I'm currently in Bangladesh, phone number is <ADMIN NOTE: Phone number removed per privacy policy> . You can call me any time you want.

I already added you as a friend, cause i think you are one.

I know when i see one.

Thanks in advance.

I too faced the same problem. I had recently got the battery replaced, in june I believe. Last week only, I observed that the total charge capacity of the battery has reduced already.. it's been only been a month or two at most, and am already seeing the backup dropping.. i don't keep a track of how many hours it is running. but I am sure it is not 3 hours.. that was only there when I bought it last year.. by the way, I have a Dell XPS laptop with WIndows 8 RTM. and I am from INDIA.
