Dear Myrtille,

I have received an xps 13 skylake (CNX9302) last week, and its screen was slightly misalinged just like yours (+- 1mm). I fixed this problem by opening the laptop and unscrewing the four screws that hold the hinges into place. After manually aligning the screen to the body, I retightened the screws and the result is 100% better.

Please refer to the service manual for locating the hinge screws.

You will need the following tools:

  • Philips 0 and 1 precision screwdrivers
  • Torx 5 precision screwdriver
  • Plastic spudger/plectrum for releasing the back.

Kind regards,

Ronald

I have the exact same problem on my xps 13 which I ordered in February. I thought that the computer just came like that because everywhere I looked I could not find anyone else with the same issue.

Hello, and sorry to hear you are having the same problem.

It appears that the new DELL XPS 13 suffers of some major built quality issues on some of their models.

Mine has hinge problems as I previously described, and the one of my colleague's front bezel is falling off.

Both laptops are less than 3 months old, and we paid a premium to benefit from DELL's "great" customer support.

In fact they could not care less, they did not solve the problem, they did not accept to replace them and I think they just want people to believe their XPS13 is of great quality.

But it is not, clearly not, and it will never be able to compete with similarly priced laptop (I got mine for 1600$...).

So now is time to spread the word: XPS13 ARE OF VERY POOR QUALITY and DELL CUSTOMER SUPPORT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT HIS CUSTOMERS.

Thanks for reading.
