DELL n5110 7 beep error code
Hello,
I slept keeping my laptop on bymistake. As usual it was in hibernation mode when i woke up. But when i pressed the start button nothing happend except the 7 beep error code. I asked the local service center people they say they have to change whole mother board worth 12k, which i found quite a lie. I searched over net i found its a processor problem, and various steps to solve it which involves opening up the rear part. I am just hesitated to do that.
Please give me some instructions or troubleshooting method to tackle this problem as my major exams are a week close.

Hi Akshay iitm,
7 Beeps on startup on an Inspiron N5110 means a processor failure. I’d suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below and check for issue resolution.
1. Switch off the computer.
2. Disconnect the AC adapter from the system.
3. Remove the battery from the computer.
4. Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds.
5. Then connect back all the peripherals and check if you are able to switch on the system.
If the system does not boot up then you may have to replace system board or the processor on the computer. Please click on the link below to check the warranty of the system. In case the system is under warranty, send me a private message with the system service tag to assist you further. Please click on my name and click Start Conversation to send me a private message.

Please reply me with the results.

my laptop is not under warranty. Please if nothing can be done then let me know the actual cost to repair it. I live in hostel in chennai. Is there any dell authorized service center here which can genuinely help me without looting my money like local private centers?

Hi Akshay,
You will need to connect with Dell Support in your region of the world. This forum, while accessible globally, primarily discusses support issues pertaining to members in the United States and Canada. You may have good luck with RESEATING THE PROCESSOR BY FOLLOWING THE STEPS IN THIS MANUAL.You can save the page as a PDF and it will be easier to use. Follow the procedure in sequence for removing the processor. Then reverse the procedure to re-assemble you laptop. This resolves the problem for approx 35% of people that take the time to perform this task.
I don't know anything about international shipping but I do happen to have a pretty good rapport with a large scale repair facility out of Austin Texas USA that specializes in Dell. Let me know if you require contact information. Their advertised LABOR fee is a flat $100 USD. Parts are not included in that LABOR charge. All parts are in-stock and on-hand so I assume turn-over time is quick. Naturally since you don't happen to live in the United States or Canada you would not be eligible for free return shipping.
To make a long story short. you will find less hassle and better pricing if you seek service in the Dell Support Region for your part of our little planet!. Good Luck.
If this information was helpful please remember to hit the YES button and if you need further assistance don't hesitate to contact
