DNS Server Configuration Problem!!

Hello, i own a Dell Inspiron 1525 and i have now for months been having problems with the internet... Many times during the day my connection would switch to LAN and disconnect from the internet for maybe a couple of minutes or a few hours!! Everytime i try to repair this it says that there is a problem with the DNS CONFIGURATION. I dont understand what to do from here really now and does anyone have any suggestions on where to go from here; thanks. It annoys me so much; it goes off the internet in random intervals and turns to local only!
