DST Short Test - 'Fail' - code 1000-0146
Dear All,
I have a Dell latitude D520 laptop. When i perform the Pre-boot System Assessment Diagnostic Tests (start the laptop and press at the Dell logo screen), I receive an error code
"DST Short Test - 'Fail' - code 1000-0146
DST Log contains previous errors."
The solution suggested on the Dell knowledge base for the above error code, is, to remove and replace the hard drive. But still I get the same error again.
I would be grateful, if anybody can assist me with the above problem
Thank you :emotion-1:

The error simply means that a previous drive logged a failure. Once you run a complete diagnostic on the new drive and it passes without errors, that information should over-write what's there and the error will disappear.
If you tested a replacement drive and get a 2000: error, that's another matter - it means the replacement drive is faulty as well.

Dear EJN63,
thank you very much for your reply,
I just ran the "check disk" for hard drive errors and the the problem got solved, it seems there were some bad sectors in my hard drive. But now after running "check disk" the problem is solved.
thank you once again, :emotion-1:

Keep backups - any drive that shows bad sectors will fail -- most likely soon.
