Dell D400 power problems

Marry Christmas all. I had tricky charger for the last couple of months. This happened to me once to my other AC Adapter that before dieing was giving me some random power by simply touching the near connector cable bit to get my laptop main powered. but this time happen that even if I was touching the end of the connector the charging light wouldn't come on at all. So I had twisted the end of the power cable and nothing!. but the worst has now happened and doesn't even power up by battery no more (as it used to) :-( I have ordered a new AC adapter from an famous auction site about 20 days ago, has not turned up yet :-(. I went to my friend house and got he's PA10 and still won't do nothing!!! I stripped the end of the connector off and checked the 3 wires, One was ok, one was unshielded and the other one completely chopped could have shortcut with the unshielded middle wire?. The funny thing is that the tricky charger has still got the green light on. now I removed all the parts off the laptop and discharged the statics unplugged all the connectors and put them all on altogethers again, but nothing still. The only thing that does is when I press the power button the ORANGE/GREEN power light come on for a millisecond. But it also does it even without battery and main connected. (so that must come from the backup battery). I'm left with some hope and I think it's I should replace some capacitor or resistance or something alike. I would not know which ones and I wouldn't know where to get them aether. can some one point me to the right thing to do whit it? I need to get it running as I have too many system configurations on this computer and replace it to a new one would take me years to reconfigure it the way I want it. Should I get another D400 motherboard? Thanks you all I hope you are having good time and excuse my English.

digitaly:

Thanks for visiting the Dell Community Forums.

It sounds as if it may be the AC adapter port on the motherboard, or the motherboard itself. You can contact Dell Out of Warranty repair and/or contact a local 3rd party technician for repair options.

Good Luck!
