Dell DataSafe factory image is 'missing or corrupted'

About a year ago I installed some Windows updates on my Dell Inspiron 15R SE, running Windows 7 64 bit (I believe SP2). This resulted in a CRYPT32.DLL missing error leaving me unable to boot into Windows. Small problem, so it might appear I just tried to restore it to factory settings using Dell DataSafe as I've done in the past (successfully) –– only to get an error message that said factory image is 'missing or corrupted'. Not having the opportunity to attempt to fiddle with the Dell till today, I'm not sure how it magicked or corrupted itself out of the way.

My question is what options do I have to restore my Dell to factory settings? I have no recovery discs, only a Drivers and Utilities disk, P/N YGVMD Rev. A00. The warranty expired two years ago so I expect I'd have to pay an arm and a leg for tech support. Please help. All good advice appreciated.

Thank you for your message.

There could be multiple reasons the image can get corrupted. Even a simple driver update can corrupt the image.

You can reach out to the Dell out of warranty team & purchase a recovery disc, through which you can reinstall the OS.

The disc shouldn’t cost you much, there will be a nominal fee for shipping and handling.

You can reach out to the team on 1-800-288-4410 (7 AM to 12 AM Monday-Friday) (USA & CANADA)

Hi Sreejith, thanks for your answer. I live in Singapore – is there a local hotline I could phone to get the disc, or an email address instead? Would very much prefer the latter. Thank you.
