ieee488.  Take a look at the 'drivers and download' page for the Inspiron 1121 and let me know if you notice a problem.

I threw my old HD back in and used double driver to backup the drivers - then restored them on the new SSD.  The Intel Centrino WiMax 6250 function driver is now at least installed, but I still can't get wireless to work.  I downloaded the intel wifi software and ran the manual diagnostics and it says my adapter is not enabled.  If I hit f2 - windows f2 - function f2 - or any combination thereof the option enable/disable WiFi does not come up.  The adapter does not have a red x in the device manager indicating it's disabled.  Ugh.

Any solution?  I'm having the exact same problem.  I re-installed Windows 7, and the WiMAX adapter is showing up, but no WiFi.  I have it enabled in BIOS, and have tried all the F2 combinations, and no luck.
