Dell Inspiron 1525 not recognizing a/c adapter....
Hey I have an Inspiron 1525 and for the past several months the battery has been bad and did not charge past 35%. So I recently purchased and recieved a new battery and when I put it in, it worked fine. Instructions said to let charge for 10 hours, before the first time use. As it was sitting charging, my dog came in and knocked my laptop off the table and the cord broke the power board in half. So I then bought and installed a new power board.
The problem now is that when I plug in the A/C adapter (65 watt). The little battery Icon stays a battery Icon and does not recognize that anything is plugged in. I even tried with my sisters 65 watt and my fathers 90 watt power supply still the same thing. The green light is on, on my power supply ( 65 watt) so I know its not the power supply.
But when I scroll over the little battery icon on the bottom right to see how much time is left on the battery. It reads 5430 hours and 43 minutes, or another variation of several thousand hours.
Also on the power board there are 2 USB ports and the A/C port. I have plugged a couple flash drives in and they work, the computer recognizes them just like normal. But there is NO power going to the laptop. I have tried taking out the battery and booting it with just the A/C adapter in and nothing, does not even blink.
Lastly when I disable the "Microsoft ACPI- complaint control method battery" from device manager, it says "plugged in not charging" whether the adapter is plugged in or not.
Other then the above the laptop runs as if nothing is wrong, starts right up and works perfectly.
Its running Windows 7 professional , 32 bit.
Brand new 9 cell battery (the one I replaced was also a 9 cell battery, so its not going from a 6 to 9)
Please ANY and ALL help is much appreciated, if you need anymore information I would be happy to provide it.
I understand I might have to replace my mother board but I am hoping to exhaust all other options before that...
I am also curious as to what circuit or fuse or what fries on the motherboard, to not allow the battery to be charged?

You've eliminated all but the mainboard as possibilities - that is the next thing to replace.

Well thank you I have ordered and Installed the new motherboard just need to go get some heat sink before I put the CPU in. Then hopefully everything will work.
But I was wondering what part on the motherboard fails that doesn't allow the battery to charge? Is it a circuit if so which one? a capacitor a chip what?
(Just curious because I had two gold clips that were not touching on my broken one and on the new one they are.)

It is most likely one of the IC chips near the power jack.
