Dell Inspiron 15R 5520 - Problem with Graphics Cards

My laptop (running Windows 7, 64-bit) has been having A LOT of issues with the graphics cards since I replaced the motherboard a while back.

A few days ago, it auto-updated while I was shutting down the computer. Happens a lot, not a problem...except this time, when I turned on the computer the next day, it gave me a warning that the graphics card drivers were not installed. As always when I get that message, Aero and the Accuweather widget have stopped working.

I can make the problem go away by reverting to a restore point before the update, but it is an auto update, so every single time I go to turn my computer off, it does the update all over again and I have to undo it. Also, I'd like to keep my software up to date if possible. This problem really shouldn't be happening.

You can find the rundown on the previous problems I was having (which were never fully resolved, BTW) under "Dell Inspiron 15R (5520) - New Motherboard, Issues with Graphics Cards," which I posted a while ago in the Dell forums.

Please read that post before you go telling me to "uninstall and then reinstall the drivers" or "have you tried turning it on and off again?" As you'll see if you actually read the post, I have tried all the obvious solutions. Don't bother replying to this unless you're going to give me a non-obvious solution--i.e. one I haven't already listed in the previous post.

If it happens after updates, turn off automatic updates.

Well, yes, that would be the Band-Aid solution, but there's obviously a bigger ongoing problem because I keep having problems like this.

And now I'm starting to think it might not be the update. Last night I turned off my computer WITHOUT letting it update before turning off, and when I turned it on this morning, the graphics card issue was happening again.

So either it updated anyway even though I hit the other "shut down" button, or it's not the update at all, it was just a coincidence.

If that's the case, then I'll need to figure out what's causing this. Going to System Restore and going back before certain updates seems to fix the problem, but again--it's a temporary fix, and now I'm not sure that it's actually the update causing it as opposed to something else that happened after the update.
