Dell Inspiron 15R SE

Hi, guys. I've purchased the lappy few days ago. The laptop has an intel i7 processor with turbo boost (up to 3.1ghz) but when I check my order status, it shows that the processor is intel i7 2.1ghz. Is it the same processor? Every 3rd gen intel processor does have turbo boost? On the other hand, what's the exact difference between 3rd gen i5 and i7 processor? Both have hyper-threading tho. My lappy is also taking so long to be shipped. The estimated date is few days away but it's still stucking at "work in progress". Thanks in advance. :)

Hi,

I will answer your queries for which I need the 'Order number' or 'Customer number'. I will be glad to check the shipping status for you.
I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.
I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Order number and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

The Clock speed is 2.1 GHz and the turbo frequency is up to 3.1 GHz. The Intel Core i5 is designated as a dual-core or quad-core chip. This means that it either has two processing units or four processing units embedded in its die or wafer of semiconductor material. In addition to dual- and quad-core processors, the Intel Core i7 offers a six-core version, which consequently has more processing power.
The Intel Core i5 has a core speed range of 1.07 gigahertz (GHz) to 3.6GHz, while that of the Intel Core i7 is 1.6GHz to 3.46GHz. Regarding the data transfer speed, most i5 and i7 CPUs use Intel's Direct Media Interface to achieve speeds of 2.5 billion to 5 billion transfers per second or 2.5 to 5 gigatransfers per second (GT/s).
Each Intel Core i5 and i7 computer chip has a tiny memory bank called the Intel Smart Cache, on which it relies for faster access than system memory to the computer's most frequently used data. While the Intel Core i5 mobile processor subcategory is restricted to a 3-megabyte (MB) Smart Cache, the desktop counterparts could have a cache of 3MB, 4MB, 6MB or 8MB. Regardless of application, the Intel Core i7 has a 4-MB, 6-MB or 8-MB Smart Cache
The mobile chips of the Intel Core i5/i7 are more energy efficient than their desktop counterparts, and the Intel Core i5 in general consumes less power than the Core i7. The laptop and desktop CPUs of the Core i5 have power consumption ranges of 17 watts (W) to 35W and 35W to 95W respectively, while that of the i7 is 17W to 55W and 65W to 130W.
Furthermore, the Intel i3 3rd generation processors do not have Intel  Turbo Boost technology; Intel i5 and i7 do.
Here is a comparison table for Intel i5 and i7 processors.

Hi,

This system has been shipped with 3rd Generation Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3612QM Processor 2.10 GHz. GHz measures how fast the clock ticks, not the speed
of the processor. The 2.3GHz i5 is a dual-core, meaning it can do two things at once and it can do those two things 2.3 billion times per second.
Hence, it can do approximately 4.6 billion things per second. The 2.10GHz i7 is a quad-core, which means it can do 4 things at once.
So it can do about 8 billion things per second, assuming you can split the workload into 4 pieces.

The E-value code that you selected while purchasing the system is V510408MY which does not include mSata drive.
The e-value code that includes mSATA drive is V510513MY.

Hope this helps.
Please reply if you have any further questions.
