Dell Inspiron 6000 Battery Recall
I recently purchased second hand a Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop and discovered its battery is dead. I discovered the following Dell website and also discovered it is a battery affected by the Dell Recall:
https://www.dellproduct.com/Program.aspx?PI=GNbVEXZPZu8=
I went through the process in December 2014 on the website and received the following email, confirming my battery would be replaced.
Dear Customer,
Thank you for participating in the Dell recall of certain Sony batteries. Your order has been received and you can expect to receive your replacement(s) within 20 business days. You may continue to use your notebook computer safely by turning the system off, ejecting the battery, and using the AC adapter and power cord to power your system until your replacement battery is received.
We apologize for any inconvenience cause by this issue. Shipment of quality products has always been and continues to be our foremost concern.
If you have questions or concerns about this recall, please feel free to contact us at Dell_Battery_Recall@Dell.com.
If you have a technical issue with your product, please contact Technical Support.
Sincerely,
Dell Inc.

I waited until Jan 23, assuming there could be delays due to Christmas holidays and such. I sent an email to the address included in the body of the email: Dell_Battery_Recall@Dell.com.
And got no response. I then tried again Feb 11, and this time got a message back saying the address didn’t exist.
I have tried the Recall Site again and again received the same confirmation email on Feb 12 that I would get a replacement. Still no response.
Would like to know if this program is still running, and if anyone has had success with this, or if there are exceptions, limitations etc.
Thanks for reading this

With a system that's 10+ years old, it's unlikely Dell even has batteries for this model any longer.

Well that's bizarre! The link worked just a few weeks ago here in Canada, but now I see it has the error page

That recall site is not active here in the US. Probably discontinued years ago. Batteries don't last for 10 years anyway--neither do laptops. Use it with the adapter alone.
