Dell Inspiron E1405 -Power Adapter/Charger Issue
I have a E1405 which is about 1 month out of warranty. When ever I connect the charger it gives a message that the charger is not recognized. I can press 'F1' to continue and use the laptop with the charger connected. The battery does not charge but it does not seem to loose the charge either.
Called Dell support and they said I may need to replace the charger!
I already have three other Dell Desktop in addition to this laptop and always been happy with Dell, but loosing the charger right after the warranty expires (1 year) make me wonder the quality of the product.
When I called Dell to see if I can extend the warranty they want me to first buy the charger!
Do others have issues like this with Dell?
The company I work for is planning to replace all the HPs with Dell, I have been a supporter of Dell but this kind of quality issues make me wonder if I need to let the purchasing department know about these kind of quality issues with Dell.

I have the EXACT same problem with my E1505!!! They told me to replace the charger, and they sent me the wrong one!! Anyway, I've tried SEVERAL known working chargers, and bought one on Ebay and the problem hasn't stopped!! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!! My battery finally went completely dead, and bow I'm sometimes having trouble even getting this thing to turn on. Now, if my notebook comes unplugged, it IMMEDIATELY dies! It will stay on as long as it's plugged, but I can't even shut it anymore w/o having to save everything or lose it, b/c the computer dies out!!
I'M DESPERATE!!
:smileymad:
BTW, my issue also started almost EXACTLY 1 month after warrantee expired, and they sent me an $80 Charger that was the WRONG KIND!!!! :smileymad:

Reading through the postings it seems like Dell have a generic issue on the quality of the battery chargers!
It seems like these chargers are 'specified' to work only for a year-till the warranty expires!

I'm not trying to knock the quality of Dell's products, but I need some HELP on this thing!
Does anyone know what to do here?? I think there might be a problem with the port that
the charger plugs into.......or maybe I have a battery problem!

Try another adapter first. If that doesn't work, replace the battery next.
If that fails, the mainboard needs repair or replacement.
