Dell Inspiron N4110 does not startup
Hi All,
I am unable to start my laptop.
It starts on AC adapter without battery, but if I put the battery, it just blinks the lights on the right after power button is pressed and goes off.
I purchased a new battery but in vain. Any help on this is much appreciated.
Regards,
Vikram

I'm assuming the new battery is a genuine Dell battery....
Please check and see if the battery charging is disable in the BIOS.
1. Power off system
2. Power on system, quickly tap the F2 key continuously. You should be in the BIOS.
I also suggest you check status of AC adapter under the Main tab as well. The adapter should say the adapter type, if it says "None" or "Unknown" then it's a issue with the adapter, and most likely needs to be replace with a new one.

Thank you very much for the response and information.
I found that the AC adapter is showing as "None". But then I tried with another adapter, it boots up with that also.
Does it have anything to do with the power jack? Please advice.

Vikram

Hi Vikram,
Are you using an original Dell OEM Adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
From your last post - have you replaced the DC port as advised?
Since you have tested another adapter and battery, the next to be replaced is the dc port. Assuming you are still located in India, you could find the part here - http://bit.ly/2qZfl95
Or check for the part at any local store - part# 2JY55
Also, please click my DELL-username and write me a private message with the service tag and your Name for case records.
Let us know if you have any other queries.

Hi,
1. The AC Adapter is a genuine one.
2. As suggested, I checked, there was no option for battery health in BIOS.
3. DC port : Before around six months, due to some issues, the hardware guy had replaced it with a new one and it was working fine.
4. Yes, I can find the part available at - http://bit.ly/2qZfl95
As advised, I shall purchase the DC port and update.
Thanks you very much.

Vikram

Hi Vikram,
I suppose a replacement dc port might resolve the issue.
If the dc port / adapter / battery are replaced and the system exhibits the same behavior, then I would suspect a motherboard fault.
