Dell Inspiron N5110 Monitor Not Working

Hi
I have a Dell Inspiron N5110 i5. The laptop was working good until I experienced some flickering in the monitor. Then it turn to complete blank. Once I boot the laptop it's just a blank screen with a lot of lines and it doesn't work. Some Lucky time when I start up the laptop the monitor would work Like once in 50 times.

Things to note: The battery warning (Consider replacing your battery) is there. I tried another battery of Inspiron N5110 i3 and The monitor stays the same. Also, I get 8 peeps during start up, it was 5 till I changed the small battery inside the laptop, Not it's 8.

I want to know what is the problem with the monitor and how to fix it.  Image

Thanks

Hi JohnScottGFX,

We will have to perform the ‘LCD BIST’ (Built in Self-test) on the computer. Please follow the steps mentioned below to run the “LCD BIST’.

  1. Turn of the computer.
  2. Press and hold down the ‘D’ key on the keyboard and press the Power button.
  3. You will see different colors on the LCD screen. Please check if the issue reoccurs on the screen.

In addition, please connect the system to an external monitor and check if the issue reoccurs.

Hi,

I tried this and I got a few screens with bright colors then it stopped on one of them like that >

After a few seconds it changed into the same as before

Connecting the laptop to an external monitor is what I'm doing now. The external monitor is working but the laptop monitor still the same like in the photo.
