Dell Latitude E6320 UEFI Problem

I have a (refurbished) Dell Latitude E6320 laptop, and I was trying to install Windows 7 x64 under UEFI mode. The system would not boot to the install DVD (provided by Dell) with 8GB of RAM (G.Skill F3-10600CL9D-8GBSQ) installed (the system maximum). Instead, all I got was a blank screen, and when I pressed the up or down arrow keys, lines of the F12 boot menu would appear. From this, I was able to access the BIOS settings, etc. I was able to boot from the install DVD once I reinstalled the original memory (4GB). Once I installed Windows, I went back and reinstalled the 8GB of RAM. This time around, Windows would only boot into Recovery Mode. I had to remove one of the RAM modules in order to get it to boot normally.

Bottom line is, UEFI mode seems to be broken on the Latitude E6320 with the memory maxed out. With 8GB of RAM, I was only able to boot the installation DVD under Legacy Mode.

Has anyone else had a problem similar to this?

Thanks!

I would check for the latest bios.

I would verify that 1 stick of ram works if so put in the other single stick and test it stand alone.

The BIOS I'm using is the current one, A04. I tried reflashing it, but that didn't help. I actually got a different Dell E6320 before I discovered this problem (I wanted a faster CPU), and this problem occurs on that one as well. The systems will run fine using only one of the G.Skill memory modules, or one of the G.Skill modules and one of the factory-installed modules (for a total of 6GB).

Perhaps a BIOS update is needed in order for this configuration to work properly. Maybe it's also possible that the memory itself is a problem.

As of now, I've installed a different pair of SO-DIMMs (8GB by Samsung), and I still get the same problem. I tried downgrading the BIOS to A03, but the problem persists.

BIOS A05 for this laptop was just released yesterday, and it fixes this problem. I am now able to boot into Windows and the install disc under UEFI mode with 8GB of RAM.
