Dell Studio 1535 series
I have a laptop of the above model with the speed of 2.40Giga hertz I am planning to upgrade the processor into i5 or i7 would it be okay and compatible? Please advice,

Absolutely not. The Core i3/5/7 uses a completely different socket design from the Core 2 Duo.
