The system will take 8G -- it must be DDR-2. You can't use DDR-3 in place of DDR-2.

www.crucial.com is the best place to check.

I have checked the crucial website. They list both DDR2 and DDR3 memory upgrades for the Studio 1555, which as why I asked.
