Dell Studio 1749 Motherboard
Hi,
I have Dell Studio 1749 with i3-350M processor. Are there more than one motherboard that I could have. How do I know exactly what motherboard I have. I would like to upgrade CPU and possibly graphics. I understand that I have Intel(R) HD Graphics integrated card. Can I upgrade to i5? How do I do this? How about ATI Graphics. I am confused. Thanks.

To upgrade to ATI video, you must replace the mainboard:

You'll also need a new heatsink assembly

Check your power adapter - if it's 65W, you'll need a new one of 90W or higher.
You should be able to install a first-generation (three digit number) i5 as well - but not the later i5s (all of which have four digits in the part numbers).
