Dell Vostro 1310 keyboard doesn't work properly

Hi everybody,

I have recently replaced keyboard in my Dell Vostro 1310. Everything seems to work flawlessly, except for "z", "x", "c", "v" etc. buttons. When I hit "z" button letter "x" appears on my screen, when I hit "x" I see "c" etc. This problem applies only to the row with "z,x,c,v,b,n..." buttons. What can be wrong? Should I go and buy a new keyboard?

Hi Fricco,

Welcome to the Community,

I suggest you can try reseating the keyboard.Does this happen while typing on a particular application or does it happen with all applications?

Refer to the link below and see if it helps:

Thank You

Hi Roshan,

Thank you for a quick response. What do you mean by "reseating the keyboard"? The problem occurs with all applications. I have checked the link you provided, but none of the topics there refers to my issue.

Hi,

If its doing the same on all applications the issue sounds to be hardware related.Though its a new keyboard make sure there is nothing stuck (no dust) between the keys.

By reseating the keyboard i meant, remove the keyboard and disconnect the keyboard connector cable and reconnect it.

Even after doing that if the issue persists, then connect a USB keyboard to the system and check. If the USB keyboard works fine then you would need to replace the keyboard.

Thank You

Roshan
