This gets crazier by the minute, I pressed the support button the laptop itself which opens a support application pre-installed on the PC, I used that to find the phone number to call, this is a different number  0844 444 3274, I explained the situation to the person answering the phone.... my support tag and service code were not recognised, got put thru to someone else, who took my details and found my order and put me through to Vostro support, I waited 16 minutes and eventually got through to someone.... at last I thought!.  I asked my question about finding that the graphics card does not support 1920 x 1080 and the response "have you set it up", as I answered yes I had set it up the line went...."beeeeeeeep"

I called back, and again got put through again to Vostro support, this time in less than a minute,  I heard "hello how can I help you, I answered "is this Vostro support" then I heard " yes it is...... beeeeeeeeeeep!" and the line went dead again.

What total utter nonsense,   I really hope someone is reading this who can a) answer the question and b) sort out why I cannot get support having paid for it

A bit of Googling and I found an update for the Graphics card on the Intel site for precisely this problem I carefully ensured I was downloading the right version (2nd generation i core processor,  intel HD Graphics 3000, 64bit operatin g system), but the installer would not run, saying it was the wrong installer for my computer

help...

anyone?

I tried using the Intel HD Graphics control panel from the task bar, it allows you to create a custom resolution, so I created 1920 x 1080 but there is no way to apply it, (or if it is applied it isn't doing anything)

still no futher on

Guy, I have the same probably, but with a V131. My screen is 23" and 1920x1080, but try as I may I cannot get the fonts to be fine. Pictures, video etc seem to be OK, but not fonts anywhere on the screen. Interestingly, as I move a page across the screen the fineness of the font will vary depending where it is. It seems that there are vertical bands of less resolution, so the lines thicken and become fuzzier, then thin out again as they move from that spot. Before I bought this I asked several computer people, all of whom said the laptop should support the screen; they, as did you, have similar setups (but not with a Vostro). I also have the intergrated HD3000 graphics, of course not upgradeable - a thing that worried me but the reassurances made me OK with it. The overall problem with text is that some parts of letters/words will befine, pretty much as they should be, but other parts thicker and blacker or a little fuzzy.
