Dell Vostro V13 Motherboard replacement issues
First issue, this laptop got a spill on the keyboard and shut down, no power. Took it to bestbuy they said the motherbaord will need to be replaced so I am looking into doing this myself. Few questions please:
1] If the Mobo is dead, does this mean the keyboard should still be ok?
2] I looked into purchasing a replacement mobo but I am confused about the specs, on the laptop next to the scrollpad there is a sticker which shows "Intel Core 2 Duo inside". When I look at the specs online for this V13 model, I am seeing "Intel Celeron 743 CPU with a speed of 1.2 GHz", does this mean it's processor is a celeron and NOT a Pentium? Also, does this mean it's a core 2 duo 1.2Ghz speed?
3] I am not seeing the regular 2 RAM slots with memory chips on this unit, where is the memory located please?
Thanks.

Hi MIKE,
1st off lets look at what you have in your hands, on the motherboard there are serial numbers so we can match what was in there.
Then we can determine the processor that was in the motherboard working until the accident.
The keyboard may be ok but also could have shorted too, inspect the connections for signs of short and if clean then we may be ok. Dell reps might want a new one as to rule out keyboard shorting out new board.
You can pm me the service tag or you can give me the numbers off the Mobo please, thank you.

The system had three different CPU options - a Celeron, a core 2 Solo and a Core 2 Duo. Since the processor in this model is a permanent part of the mainboard, the sticker outside should match the CPU inside - if yours is a TR2W2 mainboard, it has an SU3500 Core2 CPU.
Depending on the supplies of used boards, it will be more or less difficult to find a match - likely, many more of these were sold with Celeron or Core Solo CPUs.

Sorry, I won't dwell on this but I am not understanding what this means?
The case was pre-manufactured with those stickers to encompass all DV 13 models.
Is there any other way you can explain this please just so I can udnerstand why that stick is on this unit with a different processor?

The case was assembled with those stickers to encompass all DV V13 models with Core 2 Duo CPU's.
This other CPU that you are referring is not in your particular system but in another DV V13:
You have the core 2 solo SU3500

Oh thanks, yes, I just watched a youtube video on the RAM replacement. On the mobo I am seeing this info:
6050A2372201-MB-A02 P08S
Dell P/N; TR2W2-A00
I am not seeing a service tag anywhere on this unit, would the info above help?

The Intel® Celeron® M Processor ULV 743 (1M Cache, 1.30 GHz, 800 MHz FSB) in your system is a single core, here is the ARK specs from Intel:

So then why does the tag on the laptop show that info? Isn't that false advertising on Dell's part?

Well, since the mobo shows this: Dell P/N; TR2W2-A00
Are you saying that this unit does indeed have a core 2duo processor? If yes, I am seeing this mobo here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/R45H1-Dell-Vostro-V13-Intel-CEL743-Motherboard-/111161624968?pt=Motherboards&hash=item19e1bfc988
it does not show the specs of the processor, should I ask the seller or would this be the same processor that's currently inside this unit please?

I did some more looking into the processor, if I am correct it seems that any mobo with the number TR2W2 should be a core 2 duo? Is this right?

Yes, the part number should correspond to the Core 2 -- the boards with different CPUs will have different part numbers.

So this processor should be an Intel Celeron core 2 duo 1.3 Ghz, is this right?

We can extrapolate that somewhere in the life of this DV V13 she got another motherboard which was the lesser CPU and the sticker stayed.
Simple enough, yes.

It also looks like this number 31VJ5 is also a duo core?
