Different Vostro Laptops require different software package for the fingerprint reader. For example a Vostro 3300 laptop needs “Protector Suite™ QL by UPEK”. From your post it is not clear as to what is the exact System Model Number of your laptop. Please reply with the exact System Model Number of your Vostro laptop so that I research and find a fix for the issue.
This is compatible with “Microsoft Windows 7 64-bit”. You can use DigitalPersona for the following purpose:
1. Windows login authentication
2. Logging into websites that have usernames and passwords (online banking, email, IM, etc.), allowing fingerprint swiping to automatically fill in the information on the sites.
“UPEK TouchStrip Reader, v.5.6.2.3705, A00” is available for download from the below mentioned link:
This version is compatible with “Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit”. I have not tried installing it on my computer because my computer has Window 7 Enterprise 32-bit. Please try installing “UPEK TouchStrip Reader, v.5.6.2.3705, A00” on your computer and post the results here.
thanks for you help and links but the result is same, both of the softwares are unable to recognize the finger print reader. actually in device manager under bio metric device finger print reader is appearing as validity sensor and both of the software are unable to detect it. need exact 64 bit driver for this dell vostro 3300 finger print reader.
Try to uninstall both the drivers completely from the machine. Use “Driver Sweeper” for this purpose. Click here to download “Driver Sweeper”. Once the drivers are uninstalled completely, follow the steps in the below mentioned tutorial on “Updating Drivers in Windows 7”:
Follow the method to “Choose to Locate and Install Driver Software Manually”. Use this method for “DigitalPersona Fingerprint Reader” only and check if the problem is fixed.
I have used all of you instructions but I am unable to access my finger print scanner. Actually My Dell Vostro 3300 was gifted so I don't have any service tag but I have tried to update drivers by system analysing. I tried to install Digital persona but it fails to install and UPEK TouchStrip Reader was intalled but it does not detect my Device. Sir could you please help me.

I have dell vostro 3300 and resouce cd from dell came with this laptop has digital persona finger print
Reader software which was worling fine with win 32 bit version
On upgrade to win 7 64 bit i got this problem

the software you suggested is for windows 32 bit version and i have clearly mentioned that i am using windows 7 professional 64 bits
